From the brief: "Everyone who designs our signs is calm when they design them. Nobody arriving here is calm."
🧭
No panel lists more than four destinations. A worried person reading a list of nine reads none of them, so the limit is a rule rather than a guideline — and it is why arrows carry more of the load than words.

What we made

Brand — the nine weeks, and everything they shipped.

Every pairing in the system was tested for contrast before anything was manufactured, at the distance it is actually read from rather than on a screen at arm’s length. Two of the original pairings failed and were changed.

  • Identity system, built around arrival rather than around reassurance
  • Wayfinding strategy, written for people who are not calm
  • A zone colour system, used as full-bleed fields rather than as accents
  • A pictogram set drawn at one weight
  • Over four hundred panels across fourteen sites
  • Arrival correspondence — appointment letters and arrival cards
  • Contrast and legibility evidence, tested before installation

Large mint directional panels in a clinic waiting area
Fewer destinations per panel, and arrows carrying more of the load than words.
Mint and navy signage seen at distance down a clinic corridor
Tested at the distance it is actually read from, not on a screen at arm’s length. Two pairings failed and were changed.
Directional signage at a corridor junction
One mint that means this way, one navy that means information, and a coral reserved for the two panels that are genuinely urgent.
The pictogram set, drawn at one weight
The pictogram set, drawn at one weight so nothing reads as more urgent than it is.
The appointment letter and arrival card
The appointment letter and arrival card. The system starts before anyone reaches the building.
